Vanilla Sky
“Vanilla
Sky” is a giant kaleidoscope merging
vivid imagery with complex emotions. It
stealthily explores the dialogue of chemistry-
the kind that can change you for a night
versus the kind that can change you for
your life.
Tom Cruise plays David Aames, the kind of
man men love to hate: wealthy, handsome,
charming, with a silver spoon and a magic
touch. (Need I say more?) Cameron Diaz plays
Julie Gianni, Aames’(girl) friend who
wants what David can’t yet give.
Enter Sofia Serrano, played by Penelope
Cruz. The catalyst in this film, she cracks
the code. But like all things, happiness
comes at a price. Nightmares and transformations-
both physical and emotional- are all part
of the equation. Bottom Line: Plenty to
ponder on once the curtain’s closed.

A Beautiful Mind
“A Beautiful
Mind” is like driving across a stretch
of deserted highway that grows darker and
darker until finally it’s pitch black
and you don’t know how it is you got
there, or even where you are.
Director Ron Howard gives us a voyeur’s
view into the life and mind of Nobel Peace
Prize winner John Nash (Russel Crowe) and
Alicia (Jennifer Connely), his long-suffering
wife. It chronicles his struggle with schizophrenia
starting with his Princeton days in the
1940’s all the way up to the Nineties.
The makeup alone is worth the $8.50 as we
watch them age a good 5 decades. Not to
mention, every actor in this film seems
like they were made to play their part.
Bottom Line: Missing this is like missing
a beautiful thing. (Also starring: Ed Harris
and Paul Bettany)

que se presentan. Esta película explora
el diálogo de la química entre
dos personas.
Tom Cruise hace el papel de David Aames,
el tipo de hombre a quien otros hombres
odian: rico, guapo, agradable, a quien todo
se le da “en charola de plata”
y con toque mágico. Cameron Díaz
(Julie Gianni) es una “amiga”
que le pide a David lo que él no
le puede dar.
Penélope Cruz (Sofia Serrano) es
el elemento catalizador de esta película,
pues es quien descifra la clave. Pero como
siempre, la felicidad tiene un precio. Muchas
transformaciones tanto físicas como
emocionales forman parte de la ecuación.
Básicamente: Nos da mucho para pensar.

vez más oscuro, hasta que finalmente
no se puede ver nada; no se sabe ni qué
lugar es, ni cómo se llegó
allí.
Esta película nos permite hecharle
un vistazo a la vida y la mente del Premio
Nobel de la Paz John Nash (Rusel Crowe)
y Alicia (Jennifer Connelly) su sufrida
esposa. Esta película nos relata
también la crónica de su lucha
con la esquizofrenia.
Básicamente: Tan solo el maquillaje
vale los $8.50 de la entrada, pues nos permite
ver cómo los personajes envejecen
5 décadas.
