Maid in Manhattan
In this romantic comedy, a wealthy Senatorial
candidate (Ralph Fiennes) falls in love
with a New York City hotel maid (Jennifer
Lopez) after he mistakes her for a socialite.
Lopez plays Marisa Ventura, a single mother
who lives in the Bronx with her 10-year-old
son, Ty. To support him, Marisa works as
a chambermaid at the ritzy Beresford Hotel
in Manhattan.
One day, as Marisa and her co-worker Stephanie
prepare a suite for a snobby rich woman
named Caroline Lane (Natasha Richardson),
Marisa indulges in a guilty pleasure and
tries on Caroline’s sophisticated clothing.
Just then, Marisa’s son appears at
the door with Christopher Marshall (Fiennes)
a hotel guest he has met downstairs. One
of the city’s most eligible bachelors,
Christopher is smitten with Marisa, whom
he assumes is another guest at the Beresford.
When he invites her for a walk in Central
Park, Marisa hesitates, but Stephanie interrupts
and convinces her to go.
Marisa goes along with this case of mistaken
identity and spends a romantic day in Manhattan
with Christopher.
The plot thickens when her true identity
is revealed. Can this man and woman from
different sides of the tracks live happily
ever after? Rated PG-13, “Maid in Manhattan”
was released on Dec. 13.

En esta comedia
romántica, un adinerado candidato
al Senado (Ralph Fiennes) se enamora de
una camarera de un hotel de Nueva York (Jennifer
López) cuando la confunde por una
dama de la alta sociedad.
López juega el papel de Marisa Ventura,
una madre soltera que vive en el Bronx con
su hijo de diez años. Para mantenerlo,
Marisa trabaja como camarera en el lujoso
hotel Beresford en Manhattan.
Un día, mientras preparan una suite
para la mi-llonaria Caroline Lane (Natasha
Richardson), Marisa y su compañera
de trabajo Stephanie ceden a la tentación
y se prueban las sofisticadas prendas de
Caroline. Justo en ese momento el hijo de
Marisa aparece junto con Christopher Marshall
(Fiennes), un huésped del hotel a
quien conoció en el lobby.
Christopher Marshall, uno de los graduados
más prometedores de la ciudad, queda
prendado de Marisa, asumiendo que ésta
es también huésped del hotel.
Cuando invita a Marisa a dar un paseo por
Central Park, ésta titubea cuando
Stephanie aparece y la convence a aceptar
la invitación. Marisa mantiene la
confusión sobre su identidad y pasa
una romántica jornada con Christopher.
La trama se complica cuando la identidad
de Marisa es revelada. ¿Acaso podrán
este hombre y esta mujer de mundos dife-rentes
vivir felizmente?.
