How long have you been involved with Fiesta? How did it start?
I became a volunteer for Old Spanish Days (OSD) in 1989 when Clay Dickens, Past El Presidente, encouraged me to join. I joined the board in 2001 and I realized the organization was a great group of people and I truly enjoyed helping orchestrate the Fiesta events and sharing time with the community, volunteers and sponsors.


How is the Presidente chosen every year? What is the criteria?
El Presidente is elected by the OSD board of directors. The selection criteria are based on past experience on the OSD board and leadership abilities.


What about your chosen theme for this year’s Fiesta?
My theme this year is ¡Viva La Comunidad!, which translates to Long Live the Community! I wanted to celebrate all the Santa Barbarans who donate time and resources to our nonprofits, offer leadership to encourage our fellow neighbors, work to create a sustainable environment and coach youth sports … to the admirable men and women we rely on to keep us safe … to the 3,000 volunteers who help put on Old Spanish Days Fiesta.


What do you like most about Fiesta?
I really enjoy how Fiesta brings the community together. It is the one time during the year where friends and family come together to celebrate our long historical traditions


If you could change anything about Fiesta what would it be?
I wish that Fiesta would become an even greater community event where all local businesses and Santa Barbrans would partake in the festivities.
When Tim Taylor is not raising money for Fiesta what is he doing?
I have been a mortgage banker for the past 15 years. When I’m not volunteering my time to OSD I am spending time with my wife, Perrin. We enjoy water sports along with snowboarding and spending time with our families.


Any message you want to send out to the community?
I’d like to invite the community to join us in celebrating this years Fiesta by attending our events such as Fiesta Pequena, Noches de Ronda, Rodeo, the parades and the Arts and Crafts Show. Let’s all show our community spirit and celebrate Fiesta!

¿Cuanto tiempo ha estado usted con Fiesta y como la empezó?
Me volví un voluntario para OSD en 1989 cuando Clay Dickens el presidente de esa época me sugería a participar. Junté la comisión en 2001 y me di cuenta como que tan buena era la organización con su grupo. Disfrutaba realmente ayudar implementar la fiesta, los eventos y compartir tiempo con la comunidad, los voluntarios y los patrocinadores.


¿Como esta elegido anualmente el presidente y cual es el criterio?
El presidente esta elegido por a parte la comisión de directores. El criterio de selección esta basada en la experiencia con la comisión y las habilidades de dirigir la gente. Explica, por favor, sobre el tema que ha elegido este año usted. Mi tema es “Viva La Comunidad” cual se trata a una vida larga para la comunidad. Quiero celebrar todo lo de Santa Bárbara quien da su tiempo y recursos a nuestros ONGs, ofrece dirección a alentar nuestros vecinos familiares, quien trabaja a crear un ambiente sostenible y dirigir los deportes de chicos…de los admirables hombres y mujeres en quien nos dependemos a protegernos hasta los 3 mil voluntarios quienes ayudan implementar Fiesta.


¿Qué es lo que le gusta más de Fiesta?
Me encanta como Fiesta se une la comunidad. Es el único vez del año en lo que amigos y familia se juntan para celebrar las tradiciones tan especiales.


¿Si podría cambiar algo, que será de Fiesta?
Espero que Fiesta se vuelva un evento comunitario más grande donde lo que todos los negocios locales de Santa Bárbara participarían en los festivales.


¿Cuando Tim no esta cultivando mas fondos que hace?
He estado de financiero de bienes y raices por los últimos 15 años. Cuando no estoy voluntando con OSD paseo tiempo con mi esposa, Perrin. Nos gustan deportes de agua y también snowboarding o pasear tiempo con nuestras familias.


¿Hay un recado quiere dar la comunidad?
Me gustaría invitarles a juntar con nosotros y celebrar Fiesta este año participando en los eventos como Fiesta Pequeña, Noches de Ronda, los desfiles y las obras del arte. ¡Vamos a mostrar nuestro espíritu de la comunidad y celebrar Fiesta!
