The History of old Spanish days
If you are new to Santa Barbara, you may not have a good idea just how many wonderful special events exist here to choose from. One of the events on the list to attend without a doubt is Fiesta. It’s one of the most iconic festivals and truly celebrates Santa Barbara’s history, spirit, culture, heritage and traditions. Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara, Inc., an 84-year-old organization, is the nonprofit corporation dedicated to honoring and preserving these traditions and produces an annual eight day festival -— Fiesta.
Fiesta is unique among festivals, both local and national, in that it is run primarily by a volunteer board of directors and supported by only two full-time staff members. And each year the President of the Board has the honor of choosing a theme for his/her year and the design of the annual poster and pin.
The festival has succeeded year after year for a number of important reasons. It fosters a unique spirit among locals who participate and it is an important gathering which encourages community cooperation, collaboration, and growth. The festival has grown due to the overwhelming interest of so many different organizations to develop and maintain it as an extension and expression of their place in the community.
Also, Fiesta provides an education to residents and visitors about the history, customs, and traditions of the American Indian, Spanish, Mexican, and early American settlers who comprise the rich cultural heritage of Santa Barbara. It is not only a unique forum for the cultural expression of our diversity, but it also provides a vehicle for the nonprofit and community service groups to raise funds for local charities and social service organizations. The event annually draws thousands of visitors from around the world who also contribute to the local economy.
Old Spanish Days Fiesta has grown in stature and reputation to become one of the five best regional festivals in the United States. Fiesta performers come from around the nation and Mexico to participate. Celebrities of international renown who have participated or performed in Fiesta include Leo Carrillo, Will Rogers, Shirley Temple, Charles Lindberg, William Randolph Hearst, Don Wilson, Paul Whitman, and Delores Del Rio.

La Historia de los días del festival de antigüedad Española
Si usted nuevo en Santa Bárbara, quizás no ha imaginado la cantidad de eventos que uno se puede disfrutar aquí. Uno de los eventos hay que visitar es Fiesta. Es uno de los más icónicos festivales y verdaderamente celebre la historia, el espíritu, la cultura, la herencia y las tradiciones de Santa Barbara. Los días de la antigüedad Española en Santa Bárbara, una organización fundada con 84 años atas, es una organización no gubernamental (ONG) que esta dedicada a honrar y preservar estas tradiciones y produce anualmente un festival por ocho días, Fiesta.
Fiesta se destaca de otras festivales, locales o nacionales, en que es principalmente llevado acabo por una comisión de directivas voluntarias y apoyada por solo dos empleados. Los directores elijen anualmente una presidente quien no solo preside sobre la comisión pero sirve como un embajador benévolo con los residentes y como también los visitantes. El presidente tiene el honor de eligir el diseño y el tema del póster y el botón anual.
El festival ha continuado exitoso por unas razones importantes. Promueve un espíritu único entre los locales que participan. Es una reunión importante que alienten cooperación, colaboración y crecimiento comunitario. El festival anual ha crecido gracias al abrumante interés de tantas diferentes organizaciones para desarrollar y mantenerla como una extensión y expresión de su lugar en la comunidad.
Además, Fiesta provee una educación a los residentes y visitantes acerca de la historia, los costumbres y las tradiciones de los nativos americanos, los mexicanos, los españoles y los colonos americanos que forma esta rica cultura hereditaria de Santa Barbara. Días de fiestas españolas no es solo una plataforma para la expresión cultural de nuestro destino pero también provee un vehiculo para los ONGs y grupos de servicios comunitarios para juntar fondos, y también contribuye a la economía local.
Ha crecido prestigio y reputación hasta llegar a ser uno de los cinco mejores festivales regionales de los estados unidos. Artistas llegan de alrededor de la nación y México a participar.
